This list began at over 100. Whittling it down to 33 was a powerful process.
After years of angst about being many things, I have learned that I am a multi-faceted human leading a project-based career.
My intersections, which shape the stories I am privileged to tell, are much more interesting than drop-down menu selections or fixed, singularly defining nouns.
My career is based on projects.
Here are the 33 projects I am either most proud of or consider most significant
This was significant for two reasons. I had had ideas about creative projects some my very early years. It was the first time I had shared an idea, and had an artistic director say yes, let’s do this, will you direct it? It was also the first time I directed a show.
Things I learned writing this list:
There was a big impulse to say
The period from 21-31 did not have many projects that I was proud of at first. I was embarassed to write them down. I was doing a lot of gun for hire acting and feeling terribly about myself. And then I realized that during that time, there were several important projects. Not because i thought they were particuarly good or particularly noteworthy but because they were turning points, and got me to the moments were I am now.
